TATTOO REMOVAL

We use a high-powered Q-switch laser known for their outstanding ability to remove a variety of tattoo inks.

The light is aimed at the unwanted tattoo, amd then applied to the skin in pulses

The result leading to permanent fading of the tattoo, or removal of the tattoo all together.

The light is absorbed by the tattoo ink, leaving the surrounding healthy tissue untouched.

These pulses of light are attracted to the pigment in your Tattoo which then breaks up and shatters the ink in your tattoo. These ink particles are then broken into tiny fragments which are engulfed by the bodies immune cells and eliminated through the bodies waste pathways. Ink particles are safely and naturally flushed out of your system causing the ink to disappear.

This process is much safer and less invasive than older, primitive treatments such as excision or salabrasion, which often left people with unsightly scars and extended periods of excessive pain.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TATTOO REMOVAL

All of the below is expected and normal after a session of tattoo removal if you have any other concerns or questions regarding your tattoo after a session or before you get tattoo removal you can call us in clinic to discuss any further enquiries.

• Tattooed areas will whiten and become raised immediately after treatment. This is expected and a normal reaction and will settle within about half an hour. Tattoo will return to its normal colour after a few hours.

• Pinpoint bleeding may occur, both on and under the skin. This will either be cleansed away or subside in the days following treatment.

• The tattooed area may blister. Do not break the blisters, however keep them dressed. Elevation and intermittent icing will aid in healing.

• The tattoo ink will start to fade over subsequent weeks and months.

• The skin can have an “unclean”, scabby look which can last from 3-14 days. Keep skin moist using Solugel or Bepanthen to ensure the best healing outcomes.

• If treatment is undertaken on the lower extremities, it is recommended to keep them elevated for the first 12-24 hours post treatment.

WHAT TO DO POST TATTOO REMOVAL

Ensure you continue to apply an aftercare cream such as Solugel/Bepanthen and dress the area as recommended by your clinician. It is important that you follow the recommended routine to ensure best results and optimal healing.

• Do not ‘pop’ any blisters, should they occur.

• Strict avoidance of sun on the area is essential.

• Wear 30+ sun block and protective clothing, regardless of weather for 4+ weeks.

• Face, neck and hands will require sun block daily (if being treated)

• Do not scratch, pick or rub the area. Scratching or picking will have the same result as picking any scab or pimple and the area could infect or scar.

• Do not go in a spa/pool/sauna or anywhere that involves chlorine/chemicals or excessive heat for at least a week after treatment.

• Avoid the gym or excessive exercise for 48 hours or more after treatment.

• Avoid friction of the treated area, ie under arms, bikini, inner thigh.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Am I suitable for LUX series tattoo removal?

LUX series tattoo removal devices are advanced technologies suitable for treating most tattoo and skin types.

During your consultation, your therapist will assess your unwanted tattoo and discuss with you the results you are likely to expect.

Does treatments removal all tattoo colours?

The results you can expect from your tattoo removal treatments will depend on the type of ink used in your tattoo, as well as the shade of ink.

Darker colours generally respond better to tattoo removal treatments.

Your therapist will assess your suitability for treatment, along with the results you can expect, during your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

This all depends on the size, age, quality and colour of your unwanted tattoo.

Some may need as little as six sessions to achieve a satisfying result, while others may require 12 or more to remove the tattoo completely

How long do I wait in-between sessions?

Sessions are generally spaced at six week intervals, or more.

This is because the tattoo removal process keeps working long after your session has finished.

It takes time for your body to fully complete the natural process of clearing the treated tattoo inks, which is why after each session the skin is allowed time to heal and renew before moving onto the next stage of treatment.

Does it hurt?

The sensation felt during tattoo removal treatment will vary from person to person.

Factors to consider include the pain threshold of the individual being treated, as well as the size, quality, colour and location of the tattoo.

Your therapist may engage various pain reduction methods such as ice packs, or a cooling system to help minimise the discomfort experienced when undergoing treatment.
